Welcome to my Photography Gallery
I grew up in Overland Park, Kansas. I'm the son of a businessman/race car driver and a school teacher. My sister, Kira, and I spent our summers going to car races and to the beach at the Jersey shore, where my mom grew up. My dad was never without a camera on these road trip adventures and there was never a barn, lighthouse or historical monument he didn't want to investigate and photograph. He'd bring the film home to develop and print it in his basement darkroom. I observed all of this and slowly became hooked on photography. I took a few photography classes while attending the University of Kansas and learned more about how to observe the world through a lens. Upon graduation in 1990 I hopped on my mountain bike and pedaled to San Francisco, California, where I became a bike messenger....for 13 years. I began documenting bike messenger life in San Francisco and eventually travelled to Canada, Europe and Japan as a vagabond messenger. As my bike messenger days began to wind down I attended a vintage car race and felt my pulse quicken as I heard the familiar roar of racing engines. After the competition, I began looking at photos of my dad's old race cars and decided to see if I could use new technologies to locate some of his old racing machines. This led to attending and photographing more vintage car races and, ultimately, competing in historic races driving cars identical to my dad's. The images on this site are from my experiences of life so far. I'm still shooting and still searching.
